Vaerens
Horticultural consulting and technology
Ongoing
Vaerens is my consulting and technology work for commercial growing systems. Strawberry production is the core of it: propagation, crop planning, nutrition, irrigation and the decisions growers make week to week.
Alongside the advisory work it covers greenhouse and growing-system design, and the tools that come out of doing that work often enough to want them.
KOBRA
Camera-based crop monitoring
In development
KOBRA measures crop development from images. Cameras in the crop, computer vision to read what is in front of them, and a record of how plants change over weeks rather than a single impression from the day someone walked the rows.
It is in active development. Pilots and applications are being explored; it is not generally available.
